Supplies you will need - Pigments

There are many pigments out there - from Crayola little introductory paints, to student grade an then professional grade pigments. I have used and only recommend my students to use professional grade pigments if they are able. That's what I include in my kit because I want you to have the best possible experience while painting watercolor. And pigments do make a difference.

Pigments come in 5ml, 15ml and 37ml tubes. You really don't need the big ones. 15ml is absolutely sufficient.

I have used American Journey pigments from Cheap Joe's for many years. I have also enjoyed DaVinci Paints and Daniel Smith paints.

Below I will include the names of all the pigments I use for all 3 manufacturers. If you click on the name, it will take you directly to the website so you can order with ease. Daniel Smith paints are on Amazon, but American Journey is only through Cheap Joe's. You can find Da Vinci paints at Cheap Joe's and several other online art stores.

Here are the American Journey Paints from Cheap Joe's. All of them are 15ml tubes. You're more than welcome to get a bigger size but the 15ml should last you quite a long while. If the name is different for Daniel Smith or Da Vinci pigments, I will note it for you below.

Daniel Smith Extra Fine Watercolor Paints

Daniel Smith makes great paints. Conveniently, they are sold on Amazon. They come in 5ml and 15ml tubes. Most of the ones listed are 15ml because they offer the best deal. In the absence of a 15ml tube, 5ml ones are listed.

Da Vinci Artists' Watercolor paints. These are available from several online retailers. These are linked to Cheap Joe's website for convenience, but feel free to shop around. We have found that Da Vinci paints tend to be more expensive on Amazon, just FYI.
